Frequently Asked Questions:

How does this online learning program work? This is a self-discovery program which encourages staff to take control of their own learning and to utilize their lifelong learning skills through exploration and PLAY. Staff are encouraged to work together and share with each other their discoveries, techniques and "how to's" both in person and through their blogs. Lauren McMullen, Suzanne Reymer, and Tracy Cook will be the facilitators for this class. They are available to answer any questions you may have.  Please send an email to Lauren (lmcmullen at mtlib.org), Suzanne (sreymer at mtlib.org), or Tracy (tcook at mtlib.org) to register for the course.  We will add your name to the Participants' list, so you can find out who else is taking this course.

Is this program open to all Montana library staff? This program is open to ALL library staff regardless of position and status (full and part time). If you are not a staff member of a Montana library, you are welcome to follow along.

How long do I have to complete the program? This program will kick off September 1, 2007 and will run through October 31, 2007. It will continue to be available after October 31, 2007, but MSL staff members will not be actively tracking the assignments.  How do I track my progress for each of the 23 Things? Each staff member that chooses to participate in this program will be required to keep a blog to track their progress. Students can remain anonymous, but please place a link to your blog on the main class page.

Will there be any training classes offered to show staff how to do this?

This is a self-directed learning program, but MSL will probably be offering face-to-face and online sessions that will discuss some of these tools. You may also want to work with other staff members or contact other libraries to learn more about these topics.

What if I need help - who can I call?Since this program is self-directed, you are encouraged to work with colleagues along your discovery journey. To find a list of students participating in this class, see The Participants. You can also contact Suzanne (sreymer at mtlib.org), Lauren (lmcmullen at mtlib.org) or Tracy (tcook at mtlib.org) for help.

Will I receive Continuing Education (CE) Credit for this?

Yes this class is eligible for CE credit.  Once you have completed your assignments, please download the CE form.  It can be found in the Conclusion section.
